Hey there, Beautiful One,
A Life That Quietly Became This Work
I grew up in the Bahamas and spent much of my early life looking for freedom and meaning. I travelled all over the world, walked barefoot on as many beaches as possible, and searched in all the places we tend to search.
Then, in 2003, something changed.
The familiar sense of being a separate person inside my head, trying to make life happen, simply fell away.
Thought continued. Life continued. Shopping lists, mistakes and ordinary human moods continued too.
But life was no longer being experienced entirely through the mind’s commentary about it.
I wrote about those years while they were still fresh. That book became A Story of a Changed Life, and more than twenty years later it’s been updated and it still holds the beginning of everything you’ll find here.
You can read it for free if you’d like to start there.
The Years After
For a long time, I sat with what had been seen. There were years of quiet practice, followed by years of living it through ordinary life.
Relationships showed me where lovely ideas met actual human beings. Work showed me the difference between creating something and needing it to turn out a certain way. The body had its own wisdom. Grief had no interest in tidy explanations.
And the dogs kept making the whole thing simpler.
Benjamin
Benjamin was family. He was Tony’s heart dog and one of the great loves of our life.
When he died, the veterinary care ended. The love didn’t.
The house changed shape around his absence.
His life, and the way Tony loved him, became the beginning of Healing After Pet Loss. Benjamin also re-inspired the Wet Dog Shake™ and much of the playful, dog-shaped wisdom that eventually became #LiveLikeYourDog.
None of it was planned as a product line.
It was love continuing to move.
All About Your Joy
Over more than twenty years, the same discovery kept appearing through different parts of life.
The mind is extraordinary. But, it simply doesn’t need to carry everything on its own.
Books grew from that. So did recordings, guided pathways, and small practices for the middle of real days.
All About Your Joy became the name of the whole tree.
Simply Being Here is its trunk. It’s where the deeper work lives.
Healing After Pet Loss, the Balanced Affirmation Method, and #LiveLikeYourDog are branches. Each one began because life revealed something worth sharing.
You don’t need to believe any of it.
Have a look. Listen. Try something in the middle of your own life and see what is true there.
Or have a rummage through the writing for a while.
